  TOPIC: "Building on a Platform"

  *Refreshments to be provided

Our inaugural symposium will consist of a series of brief demonstrations of the software we use on a daily basis, with a discussion to follow on the pros and cons of each platform.

Juan Ocaña will present a demo of Revit Architecture, the premiere software for creating Construction Documents. Stu Henderson will be presenting the Sketchup platform, which is used by Fawley Bryant for conceptualization and communicating building designs with clients.

The SRQ BIM User Group is a forum that brings together professionals from all facets of the building design and construction industry in Sarasota and its’ surrounding areas. Our mission is to find new ways to take advantage of the latest software technology to design, construct and manage the built environment.

While the focus for this group will be Revit, users with all backgrounds are invited. SRQ BIM welcomes users at every level, from beginner to expert, and even those who just want to know how buildings are designed, constructed and maintained with modern software. By doing so we can expand the knowledge of novices and reinforce that of more experienced users by sharing what they have learned so far. You will pick up a wider variety of information in a user group than you will in a training course.

We are open to having discussions and training on concepts in Revit, Archicad, Sketchup and any other software that pertain to Building Information Modeling. We invite a dialogue between users of different sectors of the industry such as Architecture,Interiors, Engineering, Construction Management, Facility Management, Developers and more.

The group will meet quarterly a Fawley Bryant Architects in Lakewood Ranch. The current schedule is the first Wednesday of every 3rd month at 6 PM. This will be May 4th, August 3rd and November 2nd for the remainder of the year.
