Fawley Bryant Architecture Under New Ownership
Friday, January 26, 2018
SARASOTA — Fawley Bryant Architecture, an architecture and interior design firm with a 24-year history in Sarasota and Manatee counties, has new owners through a management buyout.
After a 32-year career and two years after the death of co-founder and partner Rick Fawley, Mike Bryant has retired. Following a plan drawn up by Fawley and Bryant years ago, Steve Padgett and Stu Henderson purchased the firm in December.
In 2013, Fawley and Bryant created a company management team to prepare for the long-term growth and sustainability of their company. Padgett and Henderson have been members of that management team ever since.
“I have the utmost confidence in Steve and Stu,” Bryant said Thurs day in a news release. “They have essentially been running the firm for the last year. That was done strategically so they could learn on the job and I could support them when necessary.”
With a combined 24-year history at Fawley Bryant Architecture, the new owners share the values and beliefs that helped build the firm. Padgett, who previously was the company’s executive vice president, will now be a firm principal and the managing partner. Henderson will also be a principal and will continue his role as director of design.
Currently employing 20 full-time staff, the company has grown to be one of the largest architecture firms in the area. Padgett and Henderson say they plan to remain mindful of the strong foundation Fawley and Bryant created, reconfirm the firm’s commitment to the local community, and stay focused on smart, beautiful design.
“We have to continue nurturing the fundamental building blocks that got us to this point,” Padgett said: “great work, a strong community emphasis and smart people. Even though clients will see new faces, we’re still a legacy firm with a history that will help direct our future.”
“Rick and Mike were both wonderful mentors and leaders,” Henderson said. “Steve and I are forever grateful for the chance to work and learn from them, and we’re honored to take FBA into the future.”
Fawley Bryant was created in 1994 when Richard Fawley Architects and Michael P. Bryant Architects joined forces.
The firm is known for its success with major public projects throughout the region from its offices in Lakewood Ranch and Bradenton. It designed the Out-of-Door Academy, Booker High School in Sarasota and buildings at Manatee High School. Some of the company’s other highlights include the Nathan Benderson Park finishing tower; renovations at McKechnie Field (now LECOM Park); the IMG Academy campus; the Premier Sports Complex in Lakewood Ranch and Manatee Technical College.read more ...

Young and hungry
Friday, February 28, 2014
Rick Fawley and Mike Bryant are the wise greybeards of the architecture firm they founded 20 years ago, but they leave the office when they want the young’uns to really learn something. That happens every Friday. Fawley and Bryant, principals behind Lakewood Ranch-based Fawley|Bryant, have lunch catered that day. Then they take off so the staff of 18, including seven employees who joined the firm in the last year, can connect with each other. The employees talk about work, current projects and personal lives. “The irony of the firm growing older is the staff has really never been younger,” says Bryant. “I think the staff is the best it’s ever been.” read more ...
